My club, the Cape Vintage Motorcycle Club, holds a breakfast runs on the first Sunday of the month, this Sunday the venue was especially chosen not only to have breakfast but to allow us to see a vintage car and bike run along the coast through Simons Town.
Dixie’s Restaurant in Glencairn, just outside Simons Town was chosen because its right on the Main Road, has a large balcony and superb views.
The norm for meeting has been to meet at the club house car park, in Parow, but this seems to be falling away, which I think is a shame, as the whole point of a club setting of for a run is camaraderie, and there is nothing more pleasant than plodding along with like minded people.
Any way the time was set to meet at 08H00 for an 08H30 departure, which would give us time to settle in at Dixie’s before the vintage motor vehicles (cars and motorbikes) would be passing, thus giving us a lovely view, I was asked to lead the group from Parow, which I took on as an honour.
On arrival at the allotted time and place the only member present was my mate Don, anyway we set of and had a lovely cruise down the N1, onto the N5, N2 to N3 then over Ou Kaapse road, what a pleasure, lots of twists and great scenery.
We duly arrived at Dixie’s, where I had booked for +/- 20 members, eventually we were only 14, what a disappointment, when you think our club has about 150 members
Anyway we enjoyed the breakfast, except the service left a lot to be desired, but no matter, we were not in a hurry.
The pictures that follow were taken with a low cost camera and an even lower cost photographer, me
